A research consultation is an opportunity for students to work one-on-one with a librarian to receive personalized help with a variety of research assignments. The consultation is designed to provide students with a less hurried interaction than they might receive at the Info Desk. Librarians will suggest research strategies, search terms, and print and electronic resources. They can also show you tools for citing sources. Because students request consultations in advance, librarians are able to make preparations specific to the student’s information needs.

Librarians can help with research in any subject area. If you would like general help navigating the library’s many print and electronic resources, we can help with that too!

Who can request research consultations?
All students are encouraged to utilize this service—from the first-semester student to the graduating senior. We realize that your information needs change as you progress through your degree program; we are here to help you navigate the vast universe of information!

Why should I request a research consultation?
Librarians are trained researchers who can save you time and minimize stress throughout various stages of the research process. With the proper sources you may boost an average assignment into an A+ success story. Librarians are approachable and happy to help, so request a consultation today!

Plan ahead!
Please request research consultations at least 24-hours in advance so that the librarian has time to prepare for your topic. Consultations can be scheduled whenever the library is open (see hours) -- pending librarian availability. After receiving your request, a librarian will contact you via email to arrange a convenient time, date and place to meet for the consultation.
