ThunderHawks Win It All
The 3rd seeded ThunderHawks captured the ORC State Title on Sunday as they defeated Ohio State University Newark 93-77. The ThunderHawks were the aggressor the entire contest not letting OSU Newark get within striking distance forcing key turnovers and knocking down crucial shots to stop any run. With this win, the ThunderHawks capture their 5th State Title in 6 years under head coach Bob Nocton and end the season with a record of 18-8 overall and 11-3 in conference play, good enough to win the West division of the ORCC title.
The ThunderHawks were led in scoring by Aaron Casey with 22 points and 11 rebounds followed by Lionel Hill with 20 points, Allen Jemison with 15 points, Tyree Manley with 14 points and Josh Holfinger knocking in 12 points including a few thunderous dunks.
Leading into Sunday’s championship game, the ThunderHawks soared past University of Akron Wayne in the semifinal 100-64. The ThunderHawks were led in scoring by Aaron Casey with 20 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Lionel Hill, Josh Holfinger and Tyree Manley with 13 points each in the victory.
Lionel Hill captured ORC Tournament MVP while Cooper Nolte was able to get a spot on the all-tournament team. Great season from the ThunderHawks and the coaching staff would like to thank all the parents, players and media outlets on being a part of an awesome season.
